Each night hundreds of Kentucky’s children who go to bed wondering where they will lay their head tomorrow night.   These children are in Kentucky’s foster care system.  Many no longer have legal parents and are waiting for a family to adopt them. These are the children that Thursday’s Child incorporated serves.  Thursday’s Child, a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that supports children and families serviced by Kentucky Adoption Profile Exchange, formerly the Special Needs Adoption Program.

Thursday’s Child “Night with the Stars” presented by the Davis H. Elliot Company. Is a wonderful evening supporting Thursday’s Child in its efforts to make a difference in the lives of so many waiting children. A special thank you goes to the loyal supporters who have made attending our event something you look forward to each year. To our prospective guests, we are pleased to have you join the “Friends of Thursday’s Child”. This is our sole fund raiser designed to support Thursday’s Child projects, increase public awareness of the Kentucky Adoption Profile Exchange, (KAPE) formerly Special Needs Adoption Program (SNAP) and to promote adoption in general.

This year is our 17th Annual Night With The Stars!

In September, 1989, Thursday’s Child, Inc. became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. All board members are volunteers allowing all funds received to be directed in support of the waiting children in the KAPE program. The board’s mission is to recruit adoptive parents, support waiting children and provide post-adoption support. We are proud to say we have aided in over 2,500 adoptions. I want to thank all the board members for their dedication to making this event truly special and for their efforts to support adoption throughout the year.

Over the years we have filled many needs but continue to face challenges finding special homes for special children. Currently there is a great need for foster parents to provide a temporary home for children in the care of the state. Through the “Night with the Stars” event, we have been blessed in raising $98,000 to support our services, special requests and recruitment of adoptive parents. Some of the activities we have provided are airfare to meet a prospective family, foster youth graduation celebrations, educational scholarships, school trips, adoption and SNAP matching events and Christmas gift certificates, just to name a few. Thursday’s Child has a website (thursdayschildky.org) which promotes general awareness and assists in getting the waiting children in front of potential adoptive parents.

Each year we rely heavily on the “Friends of Thursday’s Child” to provide the silent auction items you will win tonight. Please make it a point to shop at these retailers as a show of appreciation. I especially want to extend a very special thank you to each of the celebrities who have taken time from their busy schedules to attend and make the evening truly one to remember.

Please enjoy the company at your table and those around you. Frequent the silent auction and place as many bids as you wish. We are here to have fun and celebrate the joys of adoption.

Plans for 2023 Tropical Night With The Stars is underway. August 24, 2023 at Lexington Downtown Hilton, Jack Pattie has confirmed and the Conch Republic Band will be performing your favorite tropical music. Attire is tropical causual or business causual.  Be ready for a fun dinner and auction.
